The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to look for ways to reinvent themselves and rejuvenate their fan base.
On Tuesday, it was revealed the stadium formerly known as Everbank Field has officially received a new name. The Jaguars home games will now be played at TIAA Bank Field. The announcement was made via Twitter from the TIAA Bank Field account:
The Jaguars announced a $63 million renovation plan in 2013 to upgrade what was then Everbank Stadium, so the name change is another box checked off the list.
The renovations started with the additions of swimming pools and cabanas. In 2015, the Jaguars became the first team in the NFL to offer their own video game, which was called Duval Dash.
It was at this point that a certain ESPN.com writer and Brannock fan heard about the promotion, got in touch with Smorol, and urged him to do a one-game makeover. It wasn’t a slam-dunk decision for Smorol specialty jerseys cost about $60 a pop, and caps are another $15 each. Add it all up for the entire team and the bill comes to about $2,650, which isn’t chump change for a minor league team. (The jerseys are typically auctioned off, but the proceeds go to charity, not to the team.) Before Smorol could make that investment, he had to be sure that the promotion would be worth it.
He’s putting good swings on the ball, Anthony Rizzo said. He comes to the ballpark like a professional every day. When you see him get results like that, it’s fun.
And it’s fun for Maddon and the Cubs when they get a total team effort in a victory. From little known reliever Randy Rosario (0.71 ERA) keeping the Cubs in the game to 37-year-old Zobrist providing a spark off the bench, the Cubs proved once again that their talent runs deep.
Meanwhile, after Hader was beaten by Heyward and Milwaukee suffered its eighth loss in nine games against the Cubs, the Brewers must be wondering what else can go wrong.
The teams have played playoff atmosphere baseball in the early portion of the season, with the Cubs coming out on top over and over again, this time led by the unlikeliest of offensive heroes.
Monday night game, division teams, it’s a lot of fun, Heyward said. It’s electric. These teams play baseball the right way.
It feels good, Rizzo added. It’s fun playing here. The fans are into it. They’re engaged. These are tough games. Which way is the ball going to fall? This year, fortunately, they’ve fallen our way.Breaking down new-look Seahawks: Russell Wilson needs Penny to shine right away
